Marshalls Paving

Marshall’s Paving

Marshall’s has been innovating for more than 120 years, designing elegant and practical hard landscaping solutions to enhance individual homes and public landmarks. True to form, Marshall’s wanted to create an innovate way of showing customers their product. 360 Video enables them to see various Marshall products all over the country without ever moving a muscle. Marshall’s selected 2 venues from across the UK that use their products. M7 were to create 2 virtual tours of these venues aiming to capture the paving products in use.

O2 Arena – London

The first of the 2 venues was London’s O2 Arena. Whilst working with Marshall’s on this shoot M7 got the opportunity to work with talent. Having a group of people guide you through this film enhances the immersion you feel when being taken on this journey. It also allows the user to see Marshall’s products being used by the public. Marshall’s wanted the user to explore the Icon Shopping Outlet to see how the space combines the use of bespoke marble with the distinctive blends of Stonespar sandstone to achieve stunning results. For the O2 Arena shoot M7 utilised the Kandao Obsidian S with the Syrp Genie. This gave us high quality 8K footage to take into the post production stage of the project.

National Memorial Arboretum

The second venue was the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. M7 went armed with a set of story boards agreed with a Marshall’s representative during the pre-production stage of the project. With this being an outdoor shoot M7 utilised various GoPro rigs as well as a 4 camera rig consisting of Z Cams E2’s. A variety of different shots appear in the final video such as moving gimbal, slider, timelapse and static. All coming together to create a truly immersive experience. Marshall’s wanted the user to explore the beautifully detailed artwork sandblasted into the 190 commemorative paving flags throughout Heroes’ Square.

Upon completion of the final videos Marshall’s requested that two 30 second trailers were to be made. M7 made use of the new Reframe plug in from GoPro. This enabled us to extract traditional 2D videos from our 360 footage.

Post Production

M7 specialise not only in the capture of 360 footage but also the post production. M7 went above and beyond and captured some extra shots wherever they presented themselves. This warranted a conversation over which shots should be selected for the final film on top of the story boarded ones. Working closely with the team at Marshall’s we agreed on what should make the film. M7 got to work on stitching the selected shots. Using various software such as Mistika VR and the Adobe Suite, M7 used cutting edge techniques to remove all trace of the camera rigging used. This further enhances the user experience as they can remain focused solely on the story. Marshall’s ended up with a set of 2 case studies which display their products perfectly and have already attracted thousands of views on YouTube.
